The greatest thing about the GSM Staff team

I believe one of the greatest characteristics about my GSM staff team is this:
They're not into helping build ME a kingdom.
I love that they love working for me, I love that they would go through fire for me, I love that they're some of the most loyal people I know....BUT (this is a BIG BUT) one of the things I HATE (yeah I used that word) is when ministries become about building, growing, serving, praising, waiting on, connecting with....US. It literally makes me madder than almost anything else in churches. What we do should be about Jesus and we should ALWAYS be focused on building HIS Kingdom.
Do we have a part to play, yes...do we accept various roles, yes....is our role important, yes....does it carry influence, yes....should our people be able to follow us where God is leading us, yes...should they be able to lean on every word we say because we're living what we're preaching and we're preaching the Word of God, yes....should people be reverent of the position God has entrusted to us, yes...
BUT NONE OF THAT ENTITLES US TO HAVE OUR OWN KINGDOM!
There is ONE kingdom in the model of ministry set up in the Book of Acts. There is ONE kingdom that can bring about the impossible. There is ONE kingdom that is worthy of every knee bowing and every tongue confessing...and THAT is the KINGDOM OF GOD!!! Not our own!
I believe that, yes, WE are the Kingdom of God...we're God's plan to see to it that his "will is done on earth as it is in heaven" (the Lord's Prayer) but the Kingdom of God is not ABOUT us!
Mark Beeson said earlier this year in Leadership Live, "You can build God's Kingdom or your own kingdom, but you can't do both, so you have to decide which kingdom you're going to build."
I love that!!! The fact that my GSM staff team is like that, is actually a form of accountability for me. I don't have to worry about becoming egocentric cause they'll makes sure I remember it's not about me if I ever walk that line! haha I love that too!! That's what a team should do for each other.
Thanks team, for helping each other stay on mission!! We need each other and you guys always remind me of that!
GREAT post!
I kinda just wrote a post about sorta the almost same thing!
