Great insight!! It's a death spiral. We don't believe our own significance so we make attempts to prove it to others around us, making others feel like they need to do the same. Since it ultimately doesn't satisfy the longing for significance, we think we need to try harder, do it better. All the while we focus on ourselves and it influences others to do the same. However, when we build up others around us, that also influences others to do the same. But because without Christ, it is not natural, it doesn't happen without living intentionally that way.
