Sam Bradford & Colt McCoy say that Jesus is #1 on Video

Sam Bradford is starting Quarterback for the University of Oklahoma (Sooners).  In 2008 he became the Second SOPHOMORE EVER to win the Heisman Trophy and as a freshman he set the NCAA record for most touchdowns passes with 36. Colt McCoy is the starting Quarterback for the University of Texas (Longhorns).  He was the runner up (behind Bradford) for the 2008 Heisman Trophy.  In 2008 he won the Walter Camp Award and he's already projected to be a First Round Draft Pick.

My buddy Clif Marshall posted this yesterday on Twitter and I loved it!  I haven't checked this site in a while and I'm glad these two guys hopped on here and made a video sharing their faith!

GSM post-baptism interview with Eden Wittendorf

IMG_1906(Eden in Mexico on our High School mission trip this past summer)

I love to hear the 'process' that goes into how students make their big decisions for Christ so I pulled Eden Wittendorf aside last night after GSM for an impromptu interview about the process that led to her being baptized. This is raw footage a few minutes after GSM was over so the audio isn't 'produced', the lighting isn't 'produced', I didn't give her a couple days, hours, or even minutes to think about what her response would be...this is just real raw uncut footage that will let you inside the heart and mind of one of our students who got baptized this weekend at GCC. I hope you enjoy! I'm so proud of all the students who got baptized this weekend!!!

Roger Federer at the ATP in Cincy

A handful of week ago Brooke and I were in Cincy for a mini-vacation and i got a chance to watch one of my tennis heros, Roger Federer, play live at the Western & Southern Financial Tourney. I took my Flip Ultra HD with me and took some clips of him warming up for his match vs Lleyton Hewitt and some of him serving when they actually played. Tennis is one of the sports I play and watch for fun and recreation, but it also brings me "rest". My mind slows down, i relax, I re-energize, I sweat, I learn, and every time I walk off the court I'm "better".   Not better in the sense that my tennis game improved, but i'm just "better" because of the time i spent finding and exploring one of my places of "rest"...not to mention it's one of the funnest sports I've ever played. I hope everyone takes time this week to find their "resting place". It adds longevity to to everything we're a part of. Here's the video:

a TRUE leader must...

rev-run1 Rev. Run who was the lead guy Run DMC said something amazing on Twitter and I thought I should share it.  If you don't know, Run DMC was one of the pioneers for "Hip Hop"!  Not Gangster rap, rap music, or R&B but true "Hip Hop" (music with a message) This quote from Rev. Run is profound and speaks to something EVERY leader should do:

"A true leader must have the courage to act against an experts advice.  Trust ur intuition... I owe my success 2 listenin respectfully 2 many experts, accountants etc and then going my own way! Trust ur gut!

God gives each of us discernment so that we can take the life He's given us and make responsible and God honoring decisions. The first thing that came to mind was Mark Beeson.  All the experts would have said, there is no need to put a church in the middle of a cornfield in some dirt road town full of Catholics called Granger, IN....well God knew what He was doing EVEN WHEN the experts thought they were right! (Side note: I'm not condoning his album or anything like that, I just LOVE what he said.  It helped me grow as a leader.  I'm open and willing to learn from anyone God will speak to me through.)

Motivation doesn't last...

motivation

"People often say that motivation doesn't last. Well, neither does bathing-that's why we recommend it daily." -Zig Ziglar

Sound familiar?   "...give us this day, our daily bread..." (Matt. 6:11) Zig's BRILLIANT at taking Biblical principles and applying them to business.  that's why he's "Zig Ziglar" and not some guy who has cool sayings.

What persistence IS

persistence As I'm looking over our goals for this year to see where we're at I cam across this quote:

“Persistence isn’t using the same tactics over and over. That’s just annoying. Persistence is having the same goal over and over.” - Seth Godin on Persistence
