Loved these thoughts from Griff and Katie Edwards regarding what Stu Min Leaders need at different levels.

These were on Josh's blog last week:

Rookie Leaders -ATTENTION
This part of your team needs the most time. Pour into them, offer trainings, round table discussions, mentoring, encouragement and coaching. This should take up the bulk of your leader time, but that should be expected and will make sense because you are preparing them to mature as leaders into the next two categories.

Experienced Leaders -BELIEF
This group is trained and prepared, and has already seen their fair share of youth ministry successes and failures. What they need most is belief. Belief from the leadership that they can do this. That they are an integral part of changing lives, that you believe in them and what you are doing.

Veteran Leaders – CONTACT
This select group that make it through the attention (newbie) and belief (experienced) levels of experience need occasional contact more than anything else. They have been coached, trained and believed in for years, you just check in every once in a while to lend a hand or offer advice and they’ll be just fine.

(By the way, we have THIS resource, it's awesome! I've used MANY thoughts from it for our leaders.)

These sounds awesome for Groups or Parents who want to walk through the "Big Picture"

Here's a blurb from the website:

Your young people need to see the Big Picture when they read the Bible—God's story rolling our throughout history, throughout lives.

Share these 12 one-hour sessions with your teenagers and you'll see light bulbs pop on as they "get it"—and discover...

How a collection of ancient books interlock—revelaing a master plan

What picture of God emerges from his interactions with people

Where they fit into the continuing story--now and in the future.

If your teenager still think of the Bible as a disjointed jumble of stories and history lessons (trust us: they do), give them the perspective they need. Ground their faith and confidence in God's Word.

I love what the gang over at Youth Specialties is doing. I know i might be late to the party but I just got back from vacation and saw this. I think it will be a great resource for many. I twittered this a bit ago but it was worth a post too.

Knowing my challenge for training more introverted volunteer leaders, this will be a great tool....now if i can just get them all to buy iPhones or an iPod. ;) (yep that's a wink)
