My glorious writing tunnel

I'm in writing tunnel right now that has a no light...(You know the saying, you can see the light at the end of the tunnel...well yeah this tunnel so far has no light...and that's not a terribly bad thing. Right now,  all I can seem to write about is my baby girl and her momma.  Not only that, it's all I really WANT to write about right now. Looking back over my blog, it's funny how the things I'm surrounded by become stimulous for what I blog about with frequency. Oh well, I particularly LOVE this content so I'm good with it.  So much so, that I think I'll add another main ingredient to my CurryStew.org blog entree' that wasn't previously there. CurryStew.org used to consist of these main ingredients:
  1. Leadership
  2. Life
  3. Anything that inspired me (quotes, photo's, sermons, books)
And now I think I'll add a 4th ingredient: "My Family"...which really hits all of the main ingredients that make up CurryStew so it'll be a seamless add. Just for clarity and a reminder to some: I haven't previously had this on my blog because Brooke's a more private person (no Facebook, no blog, no twitter, etc.) and I wanted to honor her privacy.  Jada on the other hand, looooooves my camera, she loooooves my camera's flash, she looooves that I write about her, she loooooves that I can stop talking about her...soooo I'll keep granting those wishes and keep talking about, writing about, photographing her and putting it here on my blog. (Just thought I'd talk out loud for this post as I process my current state of perspective on my CurryStew.org)

A wife of noble character

(iPhone Photo)

Brooke memorized this "Wife of Noble Character" Proverb years ago and has been living it since the day we got married. (She wasn't a wife before that). Sometimes I feel like I don't deserve a woman this amazing.  I feel blessed to be the "husband" in her life. Proverbs 31:10-31 (A Wife of Noble Character)
10 [a] A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies. 11 Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value. 12 She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life. 13 She selects wool and flax and works with eager hands. 14 She is like the merchant ships, bringing her food from afar. 15 She gets up while it is still dark; she provides food for her family and portions for her servant girls. 16 She considers a field and buys it; out of her earnings she plants a vineyard. 17 She sets about her work vigorously; her arms are strong for her tasks. 18 She sees that her trading is profitable, and her lamp does not go out at night. 19 In her hand she holds the distaff and grasps the spindle with her fingers. 20 She opens her arms to the poor and extends her hands to the needy. 21 When it snows, she has no fear for her household; for all of them are clothed in scarlet. 22 She makes coverings for her bed; she is clothed in fine linen and purple. 23 Her husband is respected at the city gate, where he takes his seat among the elders of the land. 24 She makes linen garments and sells them, and supplies the merchants with sashes. 25 She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. 26 She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. 27 She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. 28 Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: 29 "Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all." 30 Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised. 31 Give her the reward she has earned, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.

The Privilege

(iPhone photo)

I'm still in shock that I get this privilege! Sometimes we take for granted the things that God lets us be apart of and I'm just as guilty as anyone else, but I'm learning first hand how precious every act of God is. I have endless melodies playing in my head like "how deep the Fathers love for us", "Hosanna in the highest", "How Great is our God", "If our God is for us, then who could ever stop us"...etc.

Not trying to overspiritualize this or anything but this is indeed the second greatest privilege I've ever been able to be apart of...the first was when I married my beautiful wife!

Your effort matters

(Iphone Photo)

A mother's touch makes everything better!

Big shout out to all the mom's that offer a soothing touch when we need it the most!

I hate Jada's too young right now to remember all that Brooke is doing to help her (which is why I'm taking TONS of photos), but I know all of it will pay off.  So even though babies are too young to remember all the things we do to help them, it still matters!

Through this photo I'm reminded that just because someone can't see or recognize our effort to assist them doesn't mean it's not worth the effort!  SO KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!!

This is good to remember when we want to give up on people.  Just think about all the times you didn't say thank you when someone really did help you. Who do you need to call today and say "thank you" to?

Love you mom, thanks for letting me be a big mama's boy all those years...........who am I kiddin, I'm still a momma's boy!

Wish I could describe this

Wish I had the words to describe this but this just confirms yet again that this pregnany has just left me speechless.
I've spent much of the last two days just in awe of God who created us.  Can't believe how many details he put into each one of us.  WOW!

"Indescribable, uncontainable, you placed the stars in the sky and you know them by name...YOU ARE AMAZING GOD!"

Truer words have never been spoken to me than those...

"Our God, is an awesome God, he reigns, from Heaven above with wisdom, power, and LOVE!"

10 observations about Pregnancy & Childbirth

Few observations about Pregnancy & Childbirth:

1. It's not like the movies 2. Not all women get angry, mad, frustrated 3. Seems to be that advice is great but it really depends on the personalities of the people to how it all goes. 4. Being in a vibrant church family  makes all this more fun! 5. Having close friends in the trenches (pregnant and having kids) during the same time made for fun conversation and excitement. 6. Seeing your child DOES change you forever but 9 months of preparation for him/her to get here makes it all the MORE special. 7. Figuring it out as you go, is SO FUN for first time parents...don't spoil it for them by trying to tell them everything.  (If they ask, tell, if not, just smile and be happy for them.) 8. The birthing process is indescribably glorious! 9. Having a great OB & excellent nurse is priceless! 10. Men play a vital role in both of these, so thankful I didn't take the backset! So blessed by all your comments on here and on Facebook!  Thanks for helping Brooke and I really mark these moments!

Update: Jada's doing great!!!

Here's Baby Jada being silly, which I'm finding to be the norm. She loves to stick her tongue out as if to say, "nanny nanny boo boo"...and if she's anything like me, that's exactly what she's thinking! Also note: her baby arm hair!!!! haha isn't that great!!! (It's funny what's cute at 2 days old that's not cute at 20 years old! haha)

Just wanted to give a little update:

  1. All her signs have been perfect.
  2. We haven't got a weight check since yesterday (7 lbs 4 oz)
  3. We never asked how long she was so we're oblivious
  4. She doesn't like the thermometer under her armpit...I told her it's better than the other option.
  5. She seems to dream about interesting things...she jumps a lot and/or she'll wake up screaming. Then when you touch her tummy, she stops immediately.
  6. She loves to suck on the backside of her hands in her spare time.
  7. Her fingernails are sharp
  8. Her poop is/was BLACK!
  9. Hats don't affect her temperature.
  10. She likes to have her head on my chest.

Smiling during labor!

So proud of Brooke!  She's a champ for sure! This whole experience has been so enjoyable.  From the day we found out we were pregnant until late last night!!!  ...not to mention today, it just keeps getting better and better...I don't even want to sleep!!!! During labor yesterday she was incredible...she was smiling, happy, laughing, and focussed all at the same time! (I know sounds odd, but it's true.  If you know Brooke, you know this is possible and you can totally see how that would be the case). Anyway, I am just SO EXCITED I'm beside myself.  Thought I'd take a minute and shout to the blogsphere about how amazing my wife is and how proud I am of her! Big Shout out to all the mothers out there who bring us into the world!  THANK YOU!  Your role in all of this is second to none!
