Are you willing to stand with Him through it all?

John 6:66 "From this time many of his disciples turned back and no longer followed him."   Everyone knows the captain is supposed to go down with his ship. It is a sign of loyalty, a sign of courage. Many of Jesus' early followers later came to think that he was a sinking ship. And because Jesus challenged his followers and told them that they would face difficulties, even more of them abandoned the ship and doubted whether following him was the right thing to do. Following Jesus was not easy back then, and it hasn't gotten any easier today. Jesus challenges us and tells us that we're going to face difficult times. The question is: are we willing to stand with him through it all? The followers who left Jesus missed out on the amazing things he did while he was here on earth. But those who stayed with him had a front row seat to the greatest events in history. And they became part of the movement of Christ that literally changed the world. So when you begin to doubt whether following Jesus is the right thing to do, think back to those first followers. Look to their example and remember that even when times get tough, Jesus is there to take you to places you have never gone before and he wants to show you things you have never seen. Follow him, trust in him, and let Jesus give you a life you never dreamed possible. (I got this devo from Ed Young Minstries)

What's the sercret?

image002

But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

Matthew 6:33

Everybody wants to know the secret. And we search everywhere for it.

What's the secret to love? What's the secret to a great marriage? What's the secret to wealth? What's the secret to a happy life?

However, the secret has been out for over two thousand years; we just walk blindly by it, missing it. The true secret is found in seeking.

The Bible clearly tells us that it's a waste of time to seek anything else if we haven't sought God first. But we get so caught up in the worries of day-to-day life that we forget that God is the one in control.

You wouldn't walk into your boss's office and start taking over their work because they weren't doing it according to your standards. But that's exactly what we do to God when we put other things before him. We're telling him that we can decide the order of things better than he can.

God should be the number one priority in our lives. Nothing in your world should come before seeking him. I challenge you to spend some time in prayer today, seeking God and his righteousness. And the Bible promises that when you do, the secret will be revealed.
