Everything matters to Jesus

garbage-men

Every person, Every task, Every student, Every volunteer, Every program, Every prayer, Every _________ (fill in the blank)  …it all matters to Him and all of it can be used to know more about Him.

“Whether it be eating or drinking or washing disciples feet, whatever it is, we have to take the initiative of realizing Jesus Christ in it. Every phase of our actual life has its counterpart in the life of Jesus. Our Lord realized His relationship to the Father even in the most menial work. “Jesus knowing . . . that He was come from God, and went to God . . . took a towel . . . and began to wash the disciples’ feet.” – Oswald Chambers

Chew on this a little bit

This will change your life.

“We ought never to bear the burden of sin or of doubt, but there are burdens placed on us by God which He does not intend to lift off, He wants us to roll them back on Him. “Cast that He hath given thee upon the Lord.” (R.V. marg.) If we undertake work for God and get out of touch with Him, the sense of responsibility will be overwhelmingly crushing; but if we roll back on God that which He has put upon us, He takes away the sense of responsibility by bringing in the realization of Himself.” – Oswald Chambers

Is there a 'reckless abandonment' about me?

_mg_9232

This really challenged me this week:

“The spiritual saint never believes circumstances to be haphazard, or thinks of his life as secular and sacred; he sees everything he is dumped down in as the means of securing the knowledge of Jesus Christ. There is a reckless abandonment about him.” – Oswald Chambers

God I need you.  I want to be the kind of man who seeks you with reckless abandon!

When was your last time

Recently I read a chapter in “Extravagant Worship” by Darlene Zschech where she said,

“Even if you are part of a worship team, your most glorious moments of worship should be off the platform when you’re alone with God.”

This quote has added tremendous value to my ‘CurryStew‘.  It’s keep me thinking about my worship to God in the secret, quiet place where no one else is present except me and Him.  Corporate worship is great, God calls us to it (Heb. 10:24-25) but far too often that is the only place people worship God.  I feel like God deserves more and more than that I find myself longing for me of Him outside of those awesome worship experiences on the Weekends or First Wednesday.

From the story of Mary and Martha we understand more deeply that it’s not only what we do for God that pleases him but that God longs for us to be in His presence

This is where Martha went wrong, she thought that God’s love for her was based out of what she did for Him whereas Mary tapped into what was most necessary…hanging out in the presence of God…without doing….just being…without saying….just listening…………………………..

“When’s the last time you hung out in the presence of God?

What's the sercret?

But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

Matthew 6:33

Everybody wants to know the secret. And we search everywhere for it.

What’s the secret to love?
What’s the secret to a great marriage?
What’s the secret to wealth?
What’s the secret to a happy life?

However, the secret has been out for over two thousand years; we just walk blindly by it, missing it. The true secret is found in seeking.

The Bible clearly tells us that it’s a waste of time to seek anything else if we haven’t sought God first. But we get so caught up in the worries of day-to-day life that we forget that God is the one in control.

You wouldn’t walk into your boss’s office and start taking over their work because they weren’t doing it according to your standards. But that’s exactly what we do to God when we put other things before him. We’re telling him that we can decide the order of things better than he can.

God should be the number one priority in our lives. Nothing in your world should come before seeking him. I challenge you to spend some time in prayer today, seeking God and his righteousness. And the Bible promises that when you do, the secret will be revealed.
