Student Life Tour 2009 – the slow release pill

This years Student Life Tour was, in my opinion, the best year for us, so far.  This was my third year going to the Tour and I was completely blown away by ALL that God did through this trip.  We packed a charter bus, sold out all our available spots, and headed down to Memphis, TN in anticipation of what God had in store.

Lets put it this way, I don’t think I was prepared to received all that I did.  From the time the first session actually started (half hour late) we were off and running beginning to imagine the immensity of God.  We were challenged to expand our view of God from what we might have thought God was before. I told my group of guys I really feel like the results of this experience will most likely be like  a slow release pill, we will be drastically affected by it over time. It wasn’t a mountain-top experience but I can guarantee it will be a highlight of our students and leaders spiritual journey for this year and the rest of their life for some.  I know that as the leader of the ministry, I will forever be changed by what I learned.

The teaching, by Francis Chan was (as usual) some of the best I’ve ever heard.  He has this unique way of challenging you with God’s Word in a way that cuts you to the core but is so unimposing that it’s easy to process and create space for life change.

The worship was led by Kristian Stanfill and was so passionte, it quickly took over the auditorium.

Our students: I was so proud of our students this weekend.  They get it!  Steph, Katie, John, and Seth mentioned to me that they were also really proud of how our students engaged and lead in the most sincere way.  They leaned in, they took notes, they worshipped passionately, they processed clearly and sincerely, they behaved, they had a TON of fun…. they did everything we could have asked for!  We’re so blessed to have great kids. (Videos to come later)  Below I’ve added just a little glimpse of what worship was like.
