My Favorite Moments from June Camp
ONE OF MY Favorite things about camp:
-Encouraging and empowering the counselors & staff. I love watching God use people, and at camp it's like God's using steroids because he shows up BIG!!!
Favorite Overall Moment:
-Watching all the counselors pray with their campers on Commitment Night. (Scores of campers gave the rest of their lives to Jesus Christ for the first time this week at camp and many others recommitted to Jesus affirming that they wanted to continue to live strong for him, and others who had drifted from God asked for forgiveness and came back to him.)
Favorite Funny, yet serious, MOMENT:
-Hearing about one of the campers who, during communion, held the bread in this left hand and when presented with the cup and juice dipped HIS FINGERS into the juice with the other hand....then licked them and ate the bread! YUP that's what happened! (guess you had to be there....it was great let me tell you!)
Favorite Quote:
-From a girl who I just blobbed higher than her friend. "
DC you might have blobbed me higher because I farted on the way up!"
Favorite GSM Staff Team Moment:
-Hanging out last night after the week was done just sitting around a table talking. Eating meals together. Worshipping together. Jumping off the high dive while the whole camp cheers together...every moment we get together i love...(Clearly I made up this Favorite category just so I could talk about my team. It's good working with people you like, but it's GREAT working with people you love. Thanks team for loving each other well.)
Favorite Disciplinary Moment:
-Telling a camper "run for his life" because he touched our Boxer Dog Gino and the bears were coming to get him....the funny thing is he actually ran away belly laughing. (One of the rules, for safety, is no petting Gino)
Favorite Fatigue Moment:
- "....right now...I'm toast! haha" Nah really it was when I tripped and almost fell on the way back to my cabin because I couldn't seem to pick my feet up over the pebbles I was walking on. Unfortunately no one saw me because it was 2 a.m. and everyone was sleep. Note to self: Don't take a walk to relax if you're already THAT tired....go to bed!
Favorite Photo:
-Counselor Ty Robbins surfing down a 200ft steep downhill slip and slide STANDING UP! Photo taken by Mark Beeson!
Favorite John Moment:
-See him in all his glory that is known as Camp Beautiful.
Favorite Seth Moment:
-Dance party last night, on stage, front and center with movies I didn't even know were legal in the state of Indiana.
Favorite Jeff Moment:
-uuuuum many! But listening to him slip into various movie character roles during Mail Call. "CHARLIE MURPHYYYYYYY" (Yep, he said that! That's why I love him)
Favorite Katie Moment:
-Dance party last night, gettin' her groove on to the cha-cha slide.
Favorite Steph Moment:
-watching her GO NUTZ and flail in her cabin because she had some little visitors
Favorite Pastor Beeson Moment:
-Hearing him yell out "watch your eyes children" as Jeff HURRRRRLED envelopes into the crowd attempting to throw them to campers during Mail Call. SOOO FUNNY!

I just wanted to tell you how thankful my husband and I are for all the love and devotion poured on out middle schoolers this week. We sent Taylor and Austin from Alabama back up to Indiana for this week. At first, we were not sure it would be worth it …the money, driving, hotel, etc., but after talking to the kids on the phone today (who by the way, are both horse…), it was so worth it. Thank you, thank you, thank you …and to all the staff. We really miss GCC here in Alabama (we are going to the Church of the Highlands…love pastor Chris Hodges though). Tell “Papa B.” Taylor loves him. Take care D.C. and have a wonderful summer.

Loved reading those
I miss camp. Miss you and your wifey too. Hugs.
First I want to thank the whole team that spent this week with all of the children. Wow, after reading this whole page….I wish I would have went to Camp A. I remember what church camp meant to me as a kid. A week of fun, friendships, and getting to know my Lord better. Those are very vivid memories and I’m an old fart! I hope the kids that went keep these memories vivid in their minds too! God Bless you all!
Thanks so much for sharing a small portion of the AMAZING week you guys had! Brought back so many memories of being at Camp Adventure! Love that place and it will always have a special place in my heart!

I love reading posts like this b/c it makes me get all giddy at work. I can’t wait to be at camp in a week and change. You are an incredible leader to follow and I can’t wait to see how God moves in week 2.
