The Goal line stand of ministry

This was earlier in the year when we were struggling during the USF game.

It's moments like these that make or break you as a player, a team, and even a ministry. Either you stand and fight or give in.

I wonder how many people feel backed up to the goal-line in their ministry for various reasons, given a chance to stand up and fight for the hearts and lives of the Next Gen. Pushed to the edge with volunteers, budgets, influence, space, time, parents, personal insecurities, etc.

If that's you, STAND TALL, God is with you, He has the strength, guidance, and wisdom to help you through this time. Just don't give up. There are tons of youth workers around the country who believe in you even if you don't know it. What we get to do in student ministry is too important to lay down, roll over, and simple give in. As long as there as you have breath, there is a chance!

..."Greater is He who is in you, than he who is in the world!" (1 John 4:4)

Post #NYWC 'One Thing'

Hey gang, there was so much GREAT content shared over the weekend at NYWC, I want to challenge everyone to do what I'm trying to do...Take ONE thing and actually apply it to the way you lead ministry.

Sometimes post 'drinking from the fire-hose' of conferences we're left debilitated in our efforts to apply anything. A couple of years ago I had to decide to start with 'one' thing I could apply and take steps from there. This year is no different.

My 'one thing' I'll start with: "God's grace is sloppy sometimes..." by Kinda Dean

This realization is a big time challenge to put into practice with my wiring but I know God is calling me to have more Grace for those who are unmotivated to "be IN the game" for Jesus.

You can't stay the same forever, if you stay the same you're not growing.

Adversity

"Adversity causes some men to break but others to break records!". Don't know who said it but I love it!!!!

Just a friendly reminder for all human beings

It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in man. Psalm 118:8

Writing tip from C.S. Lewis

Been working on my writing because I HATE it and I feel like if I write better it'll make me be a better preacher! Found this as I was scouring blogs, articles, etc on becoming a better writer. This is from somebody who was observing the writings of C.S. Lewis. I loved it and it TOTALLY applies to being a better communicator.
In writing. Don’t use adjectives which merely tell us how you want us to feel about the thing you are describing. I mean, instead of telling us a thing was “terrible,” describe it so that we’ll be terrified. Don’t say it was “delightful”; make us say “delightful” when we’ve read the description. You see, all those words (horrifying, wonderful, hideous, exquisite) are only like saying to your readers “Please will you do my job for me.”

Simple Leadership: Why make it more complicated?

Sometimes we should take our biggest leadership cues from little kids.

Let's not make everything so complicated.

Check these out and enjoy a good laugh. And seriously if you don't laugh you need to lighten up!

Simple Leadership: don't be like that.

Just because you didn't have it doesn't mean your people don't need it. Don't be like that!

I'm as guilty as anyone when it comes to thinking "oh they don't need that, shoot I didn't have it and I was in that exact same situation and I turned out ok, they surely don't need it!" hahaha I laugh but it's true. I've thought that sometimes.

The truth is, they MAY need it (whatever "IT" is).

The great leaders that I've had in my life always made sure I had what I needed, even if it was something different than they had when they were my age, in my situation.
