Cafeteria Christianity Week 1

This week at GSM we started our "Cafeteria Christianity" series.  This series we're focusing on embracing ALL that God calls us to rather than being a generation who picks and chooses what we want to believe/accept about God.  Far too often we try to create God in OUR image. We want God to look a certain way so we start piecing together the God that we want to follow.  For some this is the God who will never ask them to sacrifice anything, for some this is a God who wants to give them everything they've ever dreamed of without having to give anything in return, for some this is a God who doesn't punish sin.  Whatever the case, Cafeteria Christians deny all that being a "fully devoted follower of Christ" calls for. During this series we're talking about the tough truths that most youth groups dodge.  This topic is one that's not too popular in youth groups because it doesn't make us "feel" good when we find out we've been creating a "form of godliness but denying it's power" (2 Tim. 3:1-5) John White taught middle school and to say he "nailed it" would be a severe understatement!  I'll introduce you to John White soon enough.  I taught at high school and was surprised to even be standing after the long bus ride home from Memphis. south-dining-hall This series brings back memories to when I used to eat here (above).  This is South Dining Hall at Notre Dame.  I ate 3 meals a day here for 4 years of my life.  SDH is great place to eat and is always rated near the top around the country for having the best selection for meals.  I took it for granted when I was there but I would give anything to have ALL that food made for me EVERY DAY, FOR FREE!!!
