GSM After Hours 9-4-11

We kicked off two series this past labor day weekend.

Middle School: “How to Raise Your Parents”

We’re doing a Family” series on the weekend services for our adults so we thought it would be cool to sync up the “Family Stuff” with our middle school environment.  We all know that sometimes parents go to church learn some life changing principle/insight/revelation and then immediately go home and “TRY IT” on their kids.

Well we wanted to walk our students through what the Bible says to them about being a kid and how they can/should relate to their parents.  This series has great potential from a practical standpoint and also a ‘put you in your place’ standpoint.  I’m excited to see how this ends up.

We pretty much ripped the entire theme and idea from Saddleback HSM.  We loved it…so I sent Griff a message asking if it was cool if we ripped it, he said “fa sho”, and the rest is Stu Min/programming history!  (I’m all about giving credit where credit is due so big ups to Saddleback HSM for creating an awesome series that we can take the concept and make our own)  #SAMETEAMBABY

Week one was AWESOME and I expect every week to get even better.

High School: “The way it is”

We launched this series to talk about the reality of being a high schooler is that there are so many things they’re dealing with that are just out of their control and the things that really define our character/integrity in those moments is HOW WE RESPOND.

Favorite moment: Student Worship Band KILLIN IT!!!

Least favorite moment: ……THIS! (You get no context, just take it in)

  1. I love that picture of you and Johnny! Thanks for posting these so those of us who have to be gone aren’t out of the loop. I’ll be praying for you all this weekend.
