Why volunteers are important to me

I was searching some old YouTube videos today and came across one of the THE CULPS (video below) that we did at our volunteer celebration a couple of years ago. I immediately started thinking about why I love our student ministry volunteer leaders so much.

The answer is simple…THEY DON’T GET PAID! Sounds like a no brainer right…well it is! haha Volunteers give the most valuable thing that EVERY PERSON HAS….TIME!

I just think about how jam-packed my schedule is on a daily/weekly/monthly basis and sometimes it looks like there is no margin so my time becomes VERY valuable to me!

In reality who gives a rip about money/getting paid? You can always find another way to get more money, but TIME…nope, the seconds, minutes, hours, days, are ticking away and we NEVER can get them back.

We can’t just go out and get MORE TIME…

And about getting paid, people will do just about anything if they are getting paid for it, I’m personally more impressed by those who serve and seek nothing in return and we have a lot of them!

So i’m so thankful that our volunteers choose to use the most valuable asset we have to serve our students! It makes a difference and goes a long way! In our line of work, we don’t always see instant results but everything we do MATTERS! Thanks again gang!

Here’s that video of The Culps (aka Dan and Lisa Vukmirovich)

  1. Thank you so much for the inspiration you have shared. I am the volunteer coordinator and this is a new roll for me as well as for our non profit. I have been thinking about our volunteer event in April and this would be some thing that I can draw for our volunteers if that is alright with you.
